What is Visa Zero Liability?

Think of “Visa Zero Liability” as your financial bodyguard. You can shop with ease knowing that any unauthorized charges made on your account will be handled — and you won’t have to foot the bill.

Whether your Visa credit or debit card is lost or stolen, or if the purchases take place online or offline, our Fraud Busters guarantee is that you will receive a provisional credit in your account within 5 business days of notification. What are the benefits of Visa Zero Liability?

How does Visa Zero Liability work?

  1. You can use your card to shop with confidence. That's because Visa and our UMe Fraud Busters protect your card information 24/7, and you won’t be held liable for unauthorized purchases made with your card or account information.
  2. Review your account and statements frequently and report fraudulent charges. Take the time to look at your account and monthly Visa statement. Let us know as soon as possible if anything appears incorrect, so we can take swift action to regain control of your account and resolve the situation for you.
  3. Count on quick resolution and provisional credit if your card is lost or stolen.* If your account is compromised, it is our mission to set things right without further aggravation or inconvenience to you. We follow Visa’s policy and extend provisional credit for losses from unauthorized card use within 5 business days of notification of the loss.

Am I responsible for debit card charges that I didn’t make?

You will not be held responsible for the purchase as long as it meets all requirements for Visa Zero Liability protection. After you report the unauthorized transaction, the rest is in our hands. Also, once you report your card stolen, according to federal law, you cannot be held liable for charges occurring after your report.

How do I get my money back from unauthorized transactions?

Visa's Zero Liability Policy covers any unauthorized signature-based transaction made with your UMe Visa debit or credit card. Report the fraudulent charge, and you will receive a provisional credit in your account.

Any unauthorized signature-based transaction made with your UMe Visa debit or credit card is covered by Visa’s Zero Liability Policy.

Individual provisional credit amounts are provided on a provisional basis and may be withheld, delayed, limited, or rescinded based on factors such as gross negligence or fraud, delay in reporting unauthorized use, investigation and verification of claim and account standing and history. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. The transaction at issue must be posted to your account before provisional credit may be issued.
