Spooktacular Tips for a Safe and Fun Halloween in SoCal
Halloween is all about spooky fun, but safety comes first! UMe Credit Union cares about our Burbank community, so we’re here to help U have a safe and enjoyable time.
Here are more tips to ensure a fun and safe night for all:
- Costume Safety: Make sure costumes are flame-resistant, especially when walking around neighborhoods with lots of decorations. Avoid long or oversized pieces that can trip you up. And for little ones, use face paint instead of masks to keep their vision clear!
- Drive Safely: If you’re cruising down Buena Vista, Alameda, or any Burbank boulevard on Halloween, slow down and stay alert for trick-or-treaters, especially in residential areas.
- Candy Check: Before indulging in your Halloween haul, examine all candy wrappers for signs of tampering. If you spot anything suspicious or unwrapped, toss it out.
- Safe Treats for Little Ones: For younger trick-or-treaters, be mindful of candy that could be choking hazards like hard candies, gum, or nuts. Opt for softer, smaller treats when possible.
- Smart Trick-or-Treating: Stick to well-lit streets, especially around Magnolia Park. Cross streets at designated crosswalks and stay in groups for added safety.
- Electrical Safety: If you’re decorating your home, be cautious with lights and electrical decorations. Check for frayed cords and avoid overloading outlets to prevent fires.
