Member Message Update

July 16, 2021

Due to the continued increase of COVID-19 transmission cases, the LA County Health Department is re-implementing the mask mandate, requiring everyone to wear masks while indoors, regardless of vaccination status. This mandate will be in effect on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at midnight, until further notice.

Starting Monday, July 19, 2021, all visitors will be required to wear a face covering when coming into the UMe lobby.

NOTE: You may be asked to briefly remove it for security and/or identification purposes.

We are closely monitoring guidelines and will update you as soon as we get new information. We are doing everything we can to make things as safe as possible for U + Me (our members and staff). Thank U!

June 21, 2021

Hey there, UMe-verse! As we move forward to a bit more normalcy around here, we’d like to share some new lobby visit protocols. We’ve been closely monitoring the guidance of various health authorities and we’re pleased to share what to expect on your next visit to the happiest place on earth, aka, the UMe lobby.

What’s new?
As of June 15th, all fully vaccinated visitors will not be required to wear a face covering when coming into the UMe lobby. (Hooray, we get to see some real life smiles!) Those who are not fully vaccinated are still required to wear a face mask while visiting us. Please continue to use the set of doors on your right as you enter and exit. We’re still practicing social distancing for now, so please follow the floor decals and signage throughout the lobby. Our team will still operate behind the plexiglass hygiene shields and continuously clean each station to reduce potential exposure. Hand sanitizer will still be available for use in various areas of our lobby.

NOTE: If wearing a face mask, you may be asked to briefly remove it for security and/or identification purposes. We also just want to make sure your smile still works.

Not feeling too great?
While we LOVE seeing our members (we really, really do!), we kindly ask that you stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms of illness. Our team will be happy to assist you with your banking needs over the phone and do everything we can to accommodate you. As a friendly reminder, you can make a deposit, check your balance, transfer money, and more, right on the UMe mobile app, 24/7!

Thank U!
On behalf of all of Team UMe (including the UMe Emu), we would like to THANK U for your cooperation and patience during this time. We are all one (emu sized) step closer to better days ahead. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, we’re here for U! Just give us a call, send us an email, or come on in. We’re really looking forward to seeing all your smiling faces again! Oh, and don’t forget…

U really do matter to Me (all of us) at UMe!

April 26, 2021

We’re pleased to announce that the UMe branch is now open for regular walk-in visits, with no appointment needed! Starting today (April 26, 2021), the UMe lobby will resume walk-in visits from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Oh how we’ve missed U!

Below are a few safety precautions that we ask you to follow, in order to make your banking experience at UMe a safe one.

Masks Up!
Everyone’s safety remains our top priority. That’s why we are requiring all members and employees to continue to wear a face-covering while visiting the branch. (Remember, face masks should be worn over the nose and mouth, for them to be effective.) We have some U matter to Me at UMe masks that are available for you, if you’d like (while supplies last, one per member).

NOTE: You may be asked to remove your mask briefly for security and/or identification purposes.

Enter & Exit on your Right
When you arrive at UMe, please enter through the set of doors on your right. These will be the set of doors that are closest to the parking lot. Follow the floor decals and signage to the teller line or to the concierge desk to check-in. When leaving the branch, please exit through the set of doors closest to our ATMs (those will be the doors on your right). The right doors to use will always be the doors on your right, whichever direction you’re going. Easy to remember, right!?

Our capacity is limited, so overflow guests will be asked to stand in line along the side of our building closest to the main parking lot. A UMe Team Member will direct traffic, if need be.

Throughout our building, there will be hand sanitizer stations for you to use, if you would like. We have installed plexiglass hygiene shields at the Teller stations, Personal Banker desks, and Concierge desks, to help reduce potential exposure. Additionally, we are continuing to enforce strict sanitizing protocols throughout the building and property.

Feeling Sick?
We kindly ask that if you are feeling any symptoms of illness at all, please don’t come in. In those cases, we will do everything we can to assist you over the phone. Even if it’s for a service that we don’t typically do over the phone, we will do our best to accommodate you.

We’ll See U Soon!
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make every effort to continue to serve you with the best possible experience while maintaining respect for the directives for safety provided by the experts. As the world evolves, we will make updates to how we operate and we will communicate those changes to you as quickly as we make them.

UMe will remain vigilant in our attention to your safety. Please continue to be safe. We’ve missed you. U really do matter to Me (all of us) at UMe!

March 31, 2020

We continue to be committed to keeping you and our team as safe as possible during this uncertain time. We really care about U.

For the health and safety of U + Me, we have further modified our lobby visits to be by appointment only — effective Thursday, April 2, 2020 — until further notice.

UMe Lobby Hours are now
by appointment only
Mondays – Fridays: 9am – 5pm

You may request a lobby visit appointment by email or phone:
lobbyvisit@umecreditunion.com / (818) 238-2900

The good news is that you will be able to request an appointment to come in between 9am and 5pm, Mondays through Fridays. No walk-ins will be allowed, though, because we’re really trying to maximize social distancing safety as much as possible. Appointment times are limited and will be booked on a first contact, first scheduled basis.

For everyone’s safety, we ask that our members make lobby appointments for essential and time sensitive business only — and while you’re visiting, please refrain from physical contact and stay the recommended 6 feet away from others in the branch. We kindly ask that if you are feeling any symptoms of illness at all, please don’t come in. We will do everything we can to assist you over the phone.

Essential and time sensitive business includes things like instant Debit and Credit Card replacement, Wire Transfers, cash withdrawals beyond the ATM daily limits & up to our in-branch limit of $3,000/day, large check deposits over our Mobile Check Deposit limits, etc.

NOTE: All New Loan & New Account business is being conducted through our 24/7 Online channels and our UMe Call Center, which remain open regular UMe business hours. We’re here for U!

UMe Call Center Hours
Mondays – Thursdays: 9am – 5pm
Fridays: 9am – 6pm

New Accounts & New Loan Business:
For the time being, we are handling all new account and new loan requests through our 24/7 Online channels or Call Center, which is open regular UMe business hours. We will not be doing any new account or loan applications face-to-face. If you need to apply for a loan, simply visit our website at umecreditunion.com and apply anytime, or you may call us at (818) 238-2900 and we will handle things over the phone for you.

Cash Withdrawal Limits:
Please note, we have a current daily member withdrawal cash limit of $3,000 per day.

Member Loan Relief:
We have created a special Loan Payment Relief program that allows you to skip THREE consecutive payments on your UMe auto loan, personal loan, share-secured loan, home equity line-of-credit (HELOC), easy access line-of-credit and Visa credit card. If you’ve already been approved to skip 2 loan payments through this offer, you will automatically be enrolled to skip the next payment, too — no need to send in a new request.

And for members with a UMe Mortgage, we’ve created a special Mortgage Loan Payment Relief opportunity that allows you to skip the next THREE months of UMe mortgage payments. We hope that this will help you feel a bit safer in your home (and a lot loved by your credit union).

24/7 Access:
Please be assured that during this time, our Online and Mobile Banking Services, Debit and Credit Cards, and our ATM network across the nation are available 24/7. You can always make check deposits using our Mobile Banking app and you can phone our Call Center during our normal UMe business hours (listed above) at (818) 238-2900.

We are committed to serving our members during this emergency, so that you can continue to rely on us for your financial needs. All deposits at federally insured credit unions are protected by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, with deposits insured up to at least $250,000 per individual depositor. Credit union members have never lost a penny of insured savings at a federally insured credit union. UMe Credit Union is strong and well-capitalized, and was just, again rated by Bauer Financial, its highest 5-Star rating for Financial Strength in 2019.

We are closely monitoring this situation — we understand how difficult this time is for everybody, and we are doing everything we can to make this situation easier and as safe as possible for our members and staff. We truly love and appreciate you all. U + Me = UMe. We’re in this together!

A Health & Safety Message to Our Members About Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Here at UMe, the health and safety of our members, our employees, and our community is a top priority for us. Luckily, we have not been affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) — however, with growing concerns about the virus, we have increased all cleaning and sanitation efforts throughout our branch, including the lobby, the back offices, and our ATMs. Additionally, we have equipped our team members with hand sanitizer at each desk and encourage them to use it between every member interaction.

Temporarily, we have removed all refreshments from the lobby, including the coffee bar, water, chocolate and dog treats, in an effort to minimize any sharing of germs. We’ve also removed the iPads and blocks from our kids’ area. Rest assured, we will bring all these amenities back as soon as it is safe to do so, we promise.

UMe promotes good hygiene habits to maintain a healthy work environment and requires that anyone on our team who displays flu-like symptoms to stay home until they feel better.

We realize that you may wish to avoid visiting our branch to minimize contact with other people. Our online banking and mobile app options allow you to deposit checks, transfer funds between accounts, make loan payments, enable and disable your UMe cards, apply for loans, and more. And, our call center team is available to assist you over the phone during our regular business hours at (818) 238-2900.

UMe will remain vigilant in our attention to your safety. We encourage you to maintain awareness regarding this situation by relying on reputable and legitimate sources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website and County of Los Angeles Public Health website.

Please be safe. We care about you. U really do matter to Me (all of us) at UMe!
